Isaiah 59:1-2

1 Surely the arm of the Lord is not too short to save, nor his ear too dull to hear. 2 But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear.

Scripture reminds us that the Lord’s hand is not too short to save, nor His ear too dull to hear. If we sometimes feel that God is distant, silent, or unresponsive, it’s not because He has moved away from us. The truth is, something has come between us and Him.

What separates us from God is not His lack of care or nearness, but our sin. The choices we make, the attitudes we adopt, and our pride, indifference, or self-reliance slowly build a barrier that keeps us from experiencing His presence.

But none of this changes who God is. He remains good, generous, and full of love. His deepest desire is to be close to us, to restore communion, and to walk with us again. The distance wasn’t His idea, but it is His desire that we come back.

God’s grace is active. It reaches out even before we think to ask. It gently calls us and lovingly invites us to return. No matter how far we feel we’ve gone, His hand is still extended, and His ear is still attentive to anyone who turns back to Him.

Today is a good day to recognize the walls we’ve built between ourselves and God, and to ask Him to bring us close again.

Let us pray:

Lord, sometimes I feel like You’re far away, but today I understand that I’m the one who has moved. Forgive me for all that has separated me from You. Thank You for continuing to love me and for always reaching out. Today I want to return to You, to hear Your voice, and to walk with You. Amen.
