Acts 17:24-28 speaks to the centrality of God in all creation.

24 “The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands. 25 And he is not served by human hands, as if he needed anything. Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. 26 From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. 27 God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us. 28 ‘For in him we live and move and have our being. As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.’

God is closer to you than you can imagine. The God who created the heavens, the earth, and everything in them is also the God who created you, with intention and purpose. He is not confined by human structures nor sustained by our works. He does not depend on us; rather, we are the ones who rely entirely on Him.

This passage reminds us that God is the author of history and the designer of every nation and generation. He determined the times and boundaries—not out of whim, but with a purpose: that we might seek Him, know Him, and find Him, even if we reach out for Him in the dark. What a beautiful declaration: “He is not far from any one of us.”

We live in a world where it’s easy to feel alone or disconnected, but the truth is that in Him we live, move, and have our being. Our very life is evidence of His constant nearness. He is not distant or indifferent. He is present, active, and longing for communion with you.

God desires that you draw near to Him with your heart. He desires to be with you, to walk with you, and to give you abundant and eternal life.

Let us pray:

Beloved God, we thank You for Your infinite faithfulness, for being near to us, and for desiring that we seek and find You, even if we do so in the dark. Help me to seek You, to long to be close to You, and to enjoy Your presence in my life.
