Romans 3:23

23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God

There are truths we need to face, even when they hurt. This is one of them: all of us have sinned. Every single one of us. Men and women, young and old, the religious and the indifferent, we have all failed. We have all broken something that cannot be fixed.

Scripture doesn’t soften this reality, but it also doesn’t leave us stuck in despair. As tricky as this truth may seem, it opens the door to the greatest hope. Because when we finally admit we cannot save ourselves, we are ready to receive the One who can.

Jesus, the only one who never sinned, chose to carry our sin. He lived the perfect life we could never live and died the death we deserved. He did it out of love. To open a new path. To give us a second chance… and a third, and a fourth. To welcome us back into the glory of God that we had lost.

The Christian life isn’t about achieving perfection by our own strength. It’s a response to love, a love that forgives and transforms. It’s walking each day with Jesus, guided and empowered by the Holy Spirit, trusting that His grace can do in us what we never could do alone.

Holiness is not about never falling. It’s about living surrendered to the One who lifts us up, cleanses us, and teaches us how to live again.

Let us pray:

Jesus, today I recognize my sin and my deep need for You. I’ve tried to live on my own, and it has only taken me further from You. Thank You for loving me anyway. Thank You for taking my place, for giving me hope, and for offering me a new life. Help me to walk with You and not trust in myself, but be sustained by Your Spirit. Amen.
